CAMPAIGNS
The National DIGNITY Campaign
Advocates “best practices” for conditions of confinement, diversion, and alternative sentencing through state and federal legislation to end the mass incarceration and prison birth of women. The campaign is currently led by two base legislations:
- Dignity For Incarcerated Women Act banning shackling and solitary confinement of incarcerated pregnant women, which has been passed in 22 states. This language was also drafted in the federal legislation HR5682, which was instrumental in the historic passage of the First Step Act.
- Women’s CARE Act (WCA) focuses on Childbirth Alternatives, Resources, and Education of justice-involved pregnant women to end prison birth and promote family unification.
D.A.T.A. (Data Access for Transparency and Accountability) Campaign
Brings awareness to the lack of data collection for justice impacted women with a lens on incarcerated pregnant people. RestoreHER hosts the D.A.T.A. Is Life Annual Research Conference that embraces directly impacted women, academia, researchers, legislators, stakeholders, and the community to share their data to inform policies and learn from leadHERship of lived experiences what are the priorities. If you are justice-involved, complete the survey at www.restoreher.info.
IMPPACT (Informing Marginalized Peoples Power And Cultivating Transformation)
Is an alliance of directly impacted led organizations and leaders across Georgia initiated by RestoreHER as a response to advocating the passage of SB105 Probation REFORM Act GA that allows Georgians the opportunity to terminate their probation in 3 years which reenfranchises their right to vote. www.imPPact.us
PROGRAMS
T.R.A.S.H. (Traumatic Realities American Society Hides)
Uses mixed-media storytelling to bring awareness and educate the community of the social determinants of criminalization, gender inequities, reproductive injustices, unmet needs and torturous treatment of women that perpetuates harm that causes women to return home in a worse condition than when they entered the criminal justice system as well as struggling to re-establish themselves productively in society.
DLA (Dignity LeadHERship Alliance)
is the educational component of RestoreHER. DLA encompasses our reentry curriculum Renew, Rebuild, RestoreHER (RRR), incorporates the Community Change Women’s Leadership Fellowship, and includes the higher education in prison program, Unlocked Minds. RH recognizes education as a key contributor of options and a pivotal blueprint to navigate the challenges of collateral consequences when reentering the community.
HERhome
Stands as a beacon of hope and support, offering SAFE and affordable housing solutions specifically tailored for justice-involved women who face barriers in passing background checks. Understanding the critical need for stable and secure housing, HERhome presents a comprehensive program that not only includes rental living spaces but also opens the door to general wealth through homeownership opportunities.
HERcommunity
Is committed to expanding affordable housing solutions and creating generational wealth for people with felony convictions through an innovative development consisting of shipping living homes designed to be purchased for ownership. This initiative specifically targets individuals impacted by the legal system, veterans, and those earning an annual income of $30,000 or more.
HERhealth
bridges critical gaps in reproductive health within food sustainability and obstetrics/gynecological care. This program focuses on education to ensure women’s well-being intersects with creating nutritional food systems and access to vital gender healthcare services. By tackling reproductive healthcare, HERhealth empowers women to lead healthier lives while abating maternal-infant mortality. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, HERhealth enhances women’s health and contributes to broader societal progress.
Active Community Connections = Safe Solutions (ACC=SS)
Mobile app is a pioneering initiative that stands at the forefront of facilitating essential resources and support for individuals navigating the challenges of felony convictions, marginalization, or veteran status. By bridging the gap between these individuals and a comprehensive network of direct service organizations, ACC=SS empowers them to reclaim their place in society through enhanced access to critical services and support mechanisms.
